- Founder: The company was founded by Eduardo Fernández, a businessman who moved to Nicaragua in 1997 with the goal of growing the finest tobacco in the world.
- The Cuban Connection: To achieve an authentic pre-revolution Cuban flavor, Fernández hired legendary Cuban agronomists, such as the late Arsenio Ramos, to oversee the farming and fermentation processes using traditional Cuban methods.
- The Rebrand: Originally known as Casa Fernandez, the company officially rebranded to Aganorsa Leaf in 2018. The name “Aganorsa” is an acronym for Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A., the agricultural arm of the business.
